- The General Administration of Customs held a China Food Safety Conference on 28th February, 2019. The report for the year 2018 is summarized as follows: The General Administration of Customs signed 36 new inspection contracts with 31 countries/regions and specified the importation requirements for 55 food products. Meanwhile, strict punishments were implemented to enterprises whose products failed to meet the standards. For example, 1413 batches of food or cosmetic products from 64 countries/regions were returned or destroyed. The General Administration of Customs also suspended the qualification of exportation to China from 17 enterprises and revoked the registration from one company. Furthermore, they appointed 7 new importation ports and 8 new inspection sites for meat products, and one designated port was added for aquatic products.
