On June 6, 2016, China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) announced the “Administrative Measures for the Registration of Recipes of Formula Powder Products for Infant and Young Children” (CFDA Decree No. 26).
- The Decree No. 26 will enter into force on October 1, 2016, and applies to infant formula powder which is produced and distributed in China, as well as imported to China. It provides requirements and procedures for the registration of recipes and elaborates on the requirements for labeling and product description.
Another important provision of the Decree stipulates that only 3 product lines (3 stages per product line) can be registered per manufacturer, and there must be significant difference between recipes of the same stage and supported by solid scientific evidence.
